Valbruna by Simone Gaudenzi – Smooth Brown 1 Jellyfish (Standup Freehand)

This Italian artisan Valbruna pipe was handmade in Gabicce Mare, Italy, by artisan Simone Gaudenzi. The piece belongs to the Smooth Brown 1 Jellyfish classification and features a medium-sized freehand shape, distinguished by a generous, muscular bowl.

A central element of the design is its standup configuration, which allows the pipe to stand independently and remain balanced on a flat surface. Along the upper edge of the bowl (rim), the artisan has deliberately preserved the natural Top Bark, creating a material and chromatic contrast between the raw character of the bark and the smooth, polished surface of the briar.

The particularly clean briar is enhanced by a warm brown smooth finish that allows the natural grain of the wood to remain clearly visible. The deep, generously sized chamber features a slightly conical drilling, designed to support an even and consistent tobacco burn.

The stem is made of black acrylic, with a saddle-style profile, and ends in a clean, comfortable bit. Set into the upper side of the stem is the characteristic stylized silver Jellyfish, a distinctive hallmark of the artisan's work.

The self-supporting structure makes this model a practical and convenient choice for those who spend time at a desk, allowing the pipe to be set down safely without the need for a separate pipe stand.
