Adopted on July 4, 1776, by the Continental Congress and drafted primarily by Thomas Jefferson together with the Committee of Five — also comprising John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Robert R. Livingston and Roger Sherman — the Declaration marked the birth of a sovereign nation founded upon the inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. This commemorative pipe celebrates a quarter of a millennium of history while incorporating the finest traditions of British craftsmanship.

The example offered here is No. 14 of only 21 pieces produced worldwide in the Chestnut finish.

• Bulldog “OX” Shape (Ref. 5104): The pipe reproduces the historic and distinctive Bulldog shape, classified in the Dunhill archives as an “OX” shape, here presented in Group 5 (medium-large size). It is distinguished by its square-section shank and the bold lines defining the profile of the bowl.

• Chestnut Finish: This finish is characterized by a smooth treatment that highlights the rich chestnut brown colour. The polished surface allows the natural flame grain and intricate patterns of the selected briar to be fully appreciated.

• Bowl: Featuring generous capacity (Group 5) and a precisely executed cylindrical chamber designed to ensure an even tobacco burn and consistent airflow.

• Cumberland Mouthpiece: Providing an elegant contrast to the smooth finish of the bowl, the mouthpiece is made from Cumberland-style streaked ebonite in warm reddish-brown tones. It features a straight taper, individually shaped and hand-finished.

• Sterling Silver Band (925): The shank is enhanced by a 10 mm Sterling Silver band (92.5% purity), finely engraved with the historic year “1776.”
