Italian handcrafted pipe Radice Rind – Rusticated Billiard Oil Cured

Italian handcrafted pipe made in Cucciago by brothers Marzio and Gianluca Radice, belonging to the Rind classification, characteristic of pipes with a rusticated surface. It is a medium-sized pipe with a slightly Chimney bowl, built according to a free and personal interpretation of the classic Billiard shape.

The bowl features a vertical, compact profile with slightly taller proportions than a traditional Billiard. The flat rim is left smooth, creating a sharp contrast with the surrounding, fully rusticated surfaces. The difference between the smooth surface of the top and the texture of the carved briar contributes to defining the pipe's character.

The chamber offers a good capacity, a feature that aligns well with the dimensions and proportions of the pipe, making it suitable for longer smokes. The slightly Chimney bowl maintains a compact structure while providing significant internal volume.

The stem is a standard tapered type with a conical profile, made of black acrylic. Its clean lines accompany the shape of the bowl and the tactile character of the rusticating without distraction.

A distinctive element of this pipe is the "Oil Cured" stamping, which identifies briar subjected to a specific oil-based treatment. The oil curing technique belongs to the traditional processing of briar and is used during the preparation and seasoning of the wood. The treatment with natural oils aims to enhance the drying and stabilization of the briar; in pipe-making tradition, it is also associated with achieving specific smoking qualities and accentuating the properties of the wood.

This Radice Rind Oil Cured thus interprets the Billiard shape through a slightly Chimney construction, maintaining a balanced relationship between functionality and formal refinement. The smooth contrast rim, the generous chamber capacity, the black acrylic tapered stem, and the Oil Cured stamping are the defining elements of its identity within the tradition of Italian handcrafted Radice pipes.
