Peder Jeppesen Ida Gr.4 Pipe – Technical Features
The Ida Gr.4 pipe is a Danish-school artifact crafted by Peder Jeppesen, a pipe maker with long experience in Scandinavian manufacturing and founder of the Neerup brand.
Geometry, Shape, and Balance
The model is configured as a quarter-bent shape of generous dimensions. The structure combines a solid bowl with a slightly arched development of the shank.
The pipe is designed to ensure an autonomous and stable stand-up posture on smooth surfaces. This stability is achieved thanks to the flat and particularly wide crafting of both the base of the bowl and the lower part of the shank, which compensates for the shift in the center of gravity caused by the curvature.
Finish and Working of the Briar
The surface of the body is smooth, treated to highlight the natural grain of the wood. The design integrates two bark topsections, where the raw, outer crust of the original briar block has been intentionally preserved by the artisan:
On the upper rim of the bowl.
On the end face of the shank, at the point of junction with the stem.
Specifications of Bowl and Stem
Bowl: Features a combustion chamber of medium capacity, suitable for standard smoking sessions. The drilling is cylindrical, maintaining a constant diameter throughout the depth of the chamber in order to promote a regular draw.
Stem: Made of marbled acrylic with shaded tones. The profile ends with a fishtail shape, a geometric conformation aimed at optimizing palatal comfort and stability between the teeth.
