Radice Rind Oil Cured Pipe – Technical Features
The Radice Rind Oil Cured pipe expresses the typical characteristics of Italian artisanal manufacturing, combining a textured finish with precise geometric choices. This medium-sized model falls within the classic standards of the Billiard and Pot shapes.
Geometry and Construction
The design of the pipe is structured to offer stability both during use and when at rest: the base of the bowl is crafted to allow an autonomous stand-up posture on smooth surfaces.
The straight silhouette is characterized by thick and robust walls. The presence of a significant mass of briar around the combustion chamber contributes to a linear temperature management—a technical feature that makes this model suitable even for those with less experience in managing a smoke (beginners).
The Rind finish features a prominent rustication on the body of the bowl, leaving the flat rim completely smooth and natural, creating a sharp visual and material contrast.
The Oil Curing Process
The Oil Cured classification identifies pipes subjected to a traditional treatment of immersing the briar in vegetable oil before the final seasoning phase. This process acts on the tannins and sap of the wood, promoting the expulsion of internal moisture and modifying the porosity of the briar. From a technical standpoint, Oil Curing significantly reduces the pipe's break-in time and limits the appearance of harsh notes during the first lightings, offering a consistent aromatic yield.
Specifications of Bowl and Stem
Bowl: Features a good internal capacity with a slightly conical drilling, a geometric configuration designed to facilitate the draw and the regular combustion of the tobacco towards the base.
Stem: Made of black acrylic with a tapered profile and a standard button/lip, a choice oriented towards long-term stability and resistance to oxidation.
