Radice Rind Oil Cured Pipe: The Cucciago Interpretation of the Billiard
This handcrafted pipe by Radice represents a personal and original interpretation of the classic straight Billiard shape, playing on the contrast between rich textures and natural finishes.
Aesthetics and Craftsmanship
The body of the pipe features a deep rustication, dyed in a bold black finish that gives the piece a strong character and a secure grip. Providing a striking counterpoint to this texture is the rim of the bowl: flat, and left entirely smooth and natural to showcase the briar's raw grain.
The shank is embellished with a subtle wooden accent band, a handcrafted detail that harmoniously connects the stummel to the standard black acrylic stem—a material chosen for its long-term durability and resistance to oxidation.
The Oil Curing Technique
The Rind Oil Cured classification identifies the special treatment applied to the briar. Oil curing is an ancient and complex supplementary curing process: the pipe bowl is immersed in a blend of vegetable oils and subsequently dried under controlled temperatures.
Bowl Technical Specifications
Engineered to ensure consistent and long-lasting burns, the pipe features a highly capacious bowl. The internal chamber is cylindrically drilled, tapering into a slightly conical geometry at the bottom.
