Radice Rind Oil Cured Pipe – Rusticated Quarter Bent Billiard

This pipe originates from the renowned artisan workshop in Cucciago, where brothers Marzio and Gianluca Radice dedicatedly carry forward the heritage and high quality standards inherited from their father, Luigi, the founder of the brand.

The Oil Cured Treatment and Rind Finish

The Rind Oil Cured grading identifies one of the most highly esteemed processes among experienced smokers:

  • The Oil Cured Process: The briar undergoes immersion in vegetable oils prior to the curing and aging phase. This traditional method facilitates the expulsion of sap and impurities from the wood, ensuring an exceptionally sweet, cool smoke free of sour notes right from the very first bowls.

  • The Radice Rustication: The body of the pipe features the famous Rind rustication, the true hallmark of the Radice workshop. It is a deep, vigorous texture executed entirely by hand, which imparts a striking three-dimensionality to the surface and a firm, pleasant feel in the hand.

Geometry, Volumes, and Color Contrasts

The model is developed on a slightly quarter bent Billiard silhouette, a contemporary reinterpretation of a classic shape designed to offer optimal balance both in the hand and between the teeth.

  • The Chamber and Walls: The bowl is designed with a good capacity, ideal for generous packs and long-lasting smokes. The walls of the head are remarkably robust, a structural choice that, combined with the oil-cured treatment, ensures excellent heat tolerance. The internal drilling is cylindrical, with a deliberate, subtle taper at the bottom.

  • The Contrast on the Rim: In sharp contrast to the deep, dark coloration of the rusticated body, the upper rim of the bowl has been left smooth with a natural finish. This detail showcases the grain pattern of the briar and creates a striking color contrast.

Stem and Finishes

  • Material: The stem is crafted from polished black acrylic, a material that does not oxidize over time and maintains its deep coloration unaltered.

  • Profile: It features a tapered line with a standard bit termination.
