Radice Rind Pure Pipe – Straight Chubby Bulldog

The Radice Rind Pure pipe represents an emblematic example of Italian artisanal manufacturing, entirely crafted in the famous Cucciago workshop by brothers Marzio and Gianluca Radice. This model reinterprets a classic traditional shape through contemporary proportions and a finish that highlights the natural evolution of the briar.

Geometry, Shape, and Construction

The model is developed around the classic design of the straight Bulldog, presented here in a compact and expressive variant, often defined as chubby. The structure is solid and geometrically rigorous, characterized by the typical diamond-shaped shank that sharply connects to the bowl of the pipe.

The Rind finish offers a prominent and vigorous rustication on the body of the bowl, crafted to ensure a secure grip and a pleasant tactile feel. In stark contrast to the rusticated surface, the upper rim of the bowl is left completely smooth, highlighting the density and natural grain of the briar block used.

The "Pure" Classification: The Natural Evolution of Wood

The designation Pure identifies a precise philosophical and technical choice by the Radice workshop. Pipes classified in this manner are made with virgin briar, untreated and left entirely natural.

Just as occurs with meerschaum pipes, "Pure" briar is free of dyes or masking waxes. This unique feature allows the wood to breathe freely and gradually absorb tobacco oils and the heat of combustion during use. With the passage of smokes, the pipe undergoes a fascinating natural coloring process, progressively tending to darken to a biscuit shade and take on warm, unique amber tones for each individual piece.

Technical Specifications of Bowl and Stem

  • Bowl: Despite the compact dimensions of the pipe, the combustion chamber proves to be decidedly capacious. The internal drilling is executed with a slight taper toward the bottom, a geometry designed to optimize airflow dynamics and promote a regular combustion of the tobacco down to the very last ash.

  • Stem: Made of high-quality glossy black acrylic, a material chosen for its total resistance to oxidation and for maintaining its shine over time. It features a tapered profile that narrows linearly toward a standard button/lip, ensuring optimal comfort.
