Caminetto Event 2021: The Dublin–Genovese Hybrid in a Rustic Finish

The Caminetto Event 2021 pipe was crafted in the workshop of the historic Italian brand, internationally renowned and affectionately known as “La Pipa del Baffo” (The Moustache Pipe). This model belongs to the prestigious Event series, a project launched in 2013 by Tommaso “Tommy” Ascorti — grandson of the founder Giuseppe “Peppino” Ascorti — with the aim of drawing inspiration from the company's historical heritage. Each year, the series reinterprets a shape or design detail preserved in the archives, combining traditional elements with contemporary proportions and details.

Design and Geometry: A Semi-Bent Dublin–Genovese Hybrid Stand-Up

Crafted in 2021, this medium-sized pipe stands out for its distinctive and well-balanced design:

• A Blend of Dublin and Genovese Shapes: The silhouette is an intriguing hybrid of the classic Dublin shape, with its bowl widening towards the rim, and the Genovese shape, characterised by flowing lines and a distinctive Mediterranean character.
• Stand-Up Design: The semi-bent profile is complemented by a small pedestal integrated into the base of the bowl. This feature allows the pipe to stand upright on its own when placed on a flat surface.
• Rustic Finish and Smooth Rim: The bowl is finished with deep rustication, creating a pronounced, tactile texture that feels solid and pleasant to the touch. In contrast, the top of the bowl (rim) is flat-cut and left smooth, providing a clean visual contrast with the rustic finish.

Distinctive Details: The Copper Band and Mouthpiece

The junction between the shank and mouthpiece is enhanced by metal detailing rich in historical significance:

• Engraved Copper Band: The shank features an elegant copper band, adorned on its upper surface with the brand's characteristic stylised moustache emblem, an unmistakable symbol of the Caminetto identity. The words Event and 2021 are finely engraved on the sides of the band, identifying the pipe as part of this annual edition.
• Black Acrylic Mouthpiece: The glossy black acrylic mouthpiece meets the copper band seamlessly and offers excellent resistance to wear and oxidation. Its fishtail bit provides a slim, stable and comfortable position between the teeth.

Bowl Geometry and Smoking Characteristics

• Medium-Capacity Bowl: The chamber offers a versatile internal capacity, suitable for both complex tobacco blends and everyday smoking sessions.
• Slightly Tapered Draught Hole: Precisely drilled, the chamber narrows slightly towards the bottom of the bowl.
