Handcrafted Italian Mimmo Romeo Pipe – Natural Briar Quarter Bent Dublin
This handcrafted Italian pipe is a refined interpretation of a small quarter bent Dublin, handmade by Mimmo Romeo, master craftsman and founder of the Accademia della Pipa alongside Gioacchino Sauro, Gabriele Dal Fiume, and Davide Iafisco.
Crafted in his workshop in Taggia, Liguria, the pipe beautifully balances formal research and material quality—hallmarks of Romeo's work. Its compact size is paired with well-calibrated proportions and meticulous construction.
The smooth natural finish leaves center stage to the briar, selected for its grain quality. The wood features an even, well-defined flame grain accompanied by tight bird's eye, particularly evident on the top rim. The choice of a natural finish allows for full appreciation of the briar's inherent characteristics and grain direction.
Despite its compact format, the chamber is generous in size and features a cylindrical chamber drilling, a solution that contributes to the model's overall balance.
The Cumberland stem, turned directly from the rod, features a fishtail design and is enhanced by a warthog tusk accent ring—an element that introduces a refined contrast in texture and color against the briar.
The execution, precise in every detail, represents contemporary Italian high-grade pipe making, an artisan tradition that has gained growing international acclaim over the years. This Mimmo Romeo piece combines compact dimensions, elegant lines, top-tier briar, and expert craftsmanship into a pipe made for collectors who appreciate fine Italian artisan work.
