Manù by Emanuele Bruno – Tanshell Handcrafted Italian Poker

Italian handcrafted pipe by Manù, handmade by Emanuele Bruno in his workshop in Matera. Manù production stems from a technical and stylistic path developed within the Accademia della Pipa, an association founded by Masters Mimmo Romeo, Gabriele Dal Fiume, Davide Iafisco, and Gioacchino Sauro. Bruno's work is characterized by a strong focus on crafting compact, lightweight, and well-balanced pipes where form and function are tightly connected.

This specific piece is a small straight Poker, a shape traditionally recognizable by its flat bowl base designed to allow the pipe to rest vertically. Its compact proportions and exceptionally low weight make this model a true standup pipe, perfectly suited to be taken along on a walk.

The briar features a light sandblast, executed to give texture to the surface without weighing down the definition of the shape. The subsequent Tanshell stain gives the surface a warm, natural tone, keeping the blasted structure clearly visible and maintaining an understated look consistent with the pipe's scale and setup.

The black ebonite saddle stem, cut from rod, features clean lines and a fishtail bit. The choice of ebonite and the precision machining of the stem help maintain a balanced relationship between the low mass of the pipe and the proportions of the stem.

The medium-to-small capacity chamber features a slightly conical drilling. The internal geometry integrates harmoniously into the compact layout of the Poker, keeping the volume of the bowl well-proportioned to the overall structure.

Particularly notable is the very lightweight construction: this lightness, combined with the Poker shape and its self-standing base, defines its character as a pocket/walking pipe—practical to carry and designed around a philosophy focused on balance and minimal weight.

This Manù by Emanuele Bruno represents an effective synthesis of classic shape and contemporary artisan interpretation: a small Italian Poker, sandblasted in a Tanshell stain, featuring a black ebonite saddle stem cut from rod and a remarkably lightweight build.
