Ser Jacopo S2 Pipe – Sandblasted Canadian (Oval Shank)
Ser Jacopo: The Origin of the Name between Art and the Renaissance
The adventure of one of the most famous brands in the Pesaro tradition began in the early 1980s. Giancarlo Guidi, at around 38 years old and at one of the fundamental crossroads of his life, was searching for the perfect name for his new creation. Inspiration came from art: he had seen it in a museum, or perhaps in a book. It was a painting depicting a Renaissance nobleman with a proud gaze and an aristocratic bearing. That character was a certain Ser Jacopone. But Jacopone sounded too grandiloquent, almost redundant; it was much better to shorten it. "Ser Jacopo: that is what we shall call ourselves". It was either 1981 or 1982, and a legend of Italian briar was officially born.
The S2 classification identifies a sandblasted pipe of excellent workmanship, crafted to bring out the deepest and most resilient grain of the briar block.
The Shape: The Tradition of the Medium-Large Canadian
This model masterfully reinterprets the timeless Canadian shape, rendered in a medium-large overall size. The unique feature of this piece lies in its proportions: its visual and structural size is primarily due to the sweep and length of the shank rather than an enlarged bowl, thus maintaining a sleek and highly elegant silhouette.
The Oval Shank: A distinctive and structural element of the Canadian, the long briar shank features the classic and flawless oval cross-section.
The Sandblasting: The sandblasted finish gives the pipe a highly tactile and fascinating texture, offering an impeccable grip.
The Stem: In perfect accordance with the shape's tradition, the black acrylic stem is deliberately short, designed not to weigh down the slender profile of the pipe. Inset into the top of the stem is the brand's famous hallmark: the silver letter "J".
Technical Features and Interior Mechanics
The Bowl: Boasts a good capacity, optimal for accommodating generous packs and ensuring a satisfyingly long smoke.
The Drilling: The combustion chamber features a primarily cylindrical drilling that narrows slightly, becoming conical at the bottom.
