Mimmo Romeo Artisan Pipe – Free Interpretation of a Dublin / Bulldog

This creation by Master Pipemaker Mimmo Romeo, a cutter and artisan based in Taggia (Liguria), represents a meeting point between an in-depth knowledge of briar and exceptional precision in hand shaping. Internationally recognized as one of the foremost experts in the selection and aging of briar, Romeo has crafted a pipe that fully enhances the natural grain of the briar block.

Aesthetic and Briar Characteristics

The pipe is a free interpretation of a small, semi-bent Dublin / Bulldog, well balanced in its proportions and characterized by soft, flowing lines:

Finish and Grain: The briar has been left natural and given an exceptionally clean, smooth finish, highlighting a crisp and regular flame grain running along the walls of the bowl.

Rim and Bark Top: A portion of the upper edge of the bowl (rim) retains an area of the outer bark, creating a refined contrast in texture.

Bird's Eye: The flat surface of the rim reveals a dense, even pattern of bird's eye.

Despite its compact overall dimensions, the internal structure has been carefully engineered to ensure smooth airflow and an even, consistent burn:

Bowl: The chamber features a precisely drilled cylindrical bore with generous capacity, optimized in proportion to the external volume of the bowl.

Stem: Hand-cut from a Cumberland rod, the stem features a short, tapered profile terminating in a fishtail mouthpiece for a comfortable bite.

Fitting: Warthog tusk ferrule.
