Peder Jeppesen Ida Gr. 3 Pipe – Semi-Rusticated Bent
In the world of Danish artisan pipes, the name Peder Jeppesen is associated with creations of strong personality, where Scandinavian tradition meets a free and distinctive interpretation of shapes. This piece belongs to the Ida Gr. 3 classification.
Peder Jeppesen and Lejre
Peder Jeppesen's pipes are born in Lejre, a historic town on the island of Zealand, about 40 kilometers from Copenhagen. The town holds a unique place in Danish history and mythology: it is traditionally considered the cradle of Denmark's oldest royal dynasty, the Scyldings (Skjöldungar), and is linked by scholars to the traditions that inspired the legendary Heorot from the poem Beowulf.
It is within this context rich in history and tradition that Peder Jeppesen develops his craft, characterized by expressive shapes, bold proportions, and a strong sculptural presence.
This medium-large model features a bent layout with a fluid profile and a semi-rusticated finish that combines tactile textured relief with smooth elements, accentuating the bowl's volume. The thick, sturdy walls ensure excellent heat management throughout the smoke. The generous chamber features cylindrical drilling designed to promote an even and consistent burn.
The overall aesthetic is enhanced by a distinctive multicolored acrylic ferrule on the shank, creating a vibrant visual transition to the short black acrylic stem, which is finished with a comfortable fishtail bit.
