Peder Jeppesen Ida Gr. 5 Pipe: Danish Mastery and Harmony of Contrasts
The Nordic slow-smoking landscape finds one of its most charismatic and appreciated contemporary interpreters in Peder Jeppesen. After perfecting his art for over twenty years alongside Danish pipe legends like Karl Erik and, above all, Erik Nørding, Jeppesen founded his own workshop (also known under the Neerup brand, an ancient family name), which is now managed together with his son, Christian. His creations are born in Lejre, the mythological cradle of Denmark.
The Ida line holds a place of honor in the artisan's catalog, as it is the series historically dedicated to his daughter. Within this production, the Gr. 5 (Group 5) classification identifies high-level pieces.
Shape Architecture and Aesthetic Character
This model offers a personal artisan interpretation of a bent Tomato. The silhouette is characterized by soft lines:
The Bowl and the Chamber: Despite the medium overall dimensions of the pipe, the bowl is particularly generousand solid, offering a briar mass ideal for insulating heat. Inside, the chamber features a medium capacity, making it a versatile instrument suitable for daily smoking sessions. The flawlessly executed cylindrical drilling ensures a smooth draw.
The Contrast Coloring: Consistent with the visual identity of the brand, the finish is enhanced by Jeppesen's typical contrast coloring. This staining technique highlights the three-dimensionality of the briar's natural grain, alternating warm shades and dark grain in a refined chromatic display.
Ornamental Details and Stem
The Band (Ghiera): The shank is embellished with a striking multicolor acrylic band applied to the end. This ornamental insert introduces a sought-after note of chromatic liveliness, an unmistakable signature of Peder Jeppesen's style.
The Stem: In stark contrast to the colored band, the stem is made of deep black acrylic. It is a short version with a Fishtail termination.
