Caminetto Event 2020 Pipe – Semi-Rusticated Stand-Up Skin with Double Copper Band
The Caminetto manufacture represents one of the historic brands of Italian pipe craftsmanship. Founded in 1968 in Cucciago from the partnership between Giuseppe Ascorti and Luigi Radice, the brand—famous for its "Mustache" logo—revolutionized the international market in the 1970s thanks to innovative finishing techniques and extraordinary construction quality. After a historic hiatus, production was reborn in the 1980s thanks to Roberto Ascorti and continues today under the leadership of the Ascorti family, keeping intact the artisanal care and stylistic identity of the Cantù school.
Technical Features and Design of the Event 2020 Skin
This model belongs to the Event 2020 series and stands out for its complex architecture and a skillful play of chromatic and material contrasts.
Stand-Up Geometry and Curvature: The pipe is a heavily bent shape equipped with a flat base that allows it to balance independently without the aid of a pipe rest (stand-up). Despite the slender line and pronounced curvature, the weight distribution is designed to offer maximum comfort when held between the teeth.
Semi-Rusticated "Skin" Finish: The bowl of the pipe features the Skin finish, a particular semi-rusticated treatment that enhances the three-dimensional texture of the briar while letting the natural quality of the raw material surface. In an elegant contrast, the top edge of the bowl (rim) is finished completely smooth, highlighting the density and color of the wood.
Copper Inserts and Stem: The junction point between the shank and the stem is embellished with a refined technical and aesthetic detail: a double copper band applied both on the shank and on the base of the stem. The latter is made of polished black acrylic, molded with a saddle shape (saddle) that ensures a linear airflow and a reduced thickness between the teeth.
Bowl and Drilling: The combustion chamber is decidedly spacious, suitable for accommodating a generous load of tobacco for prolonged smoking sessions. The internal drilling is engineered with a geometry that is slightly conical at the bottom, a technical feature useful for optimizing the draw in the final stages of the smoke and promoting the complete combustion of the tobacco without accumulations of residual moisture.
