MG Pipes Smooth Briar Blowfish Italian Handmade Pipe

Italian handmade pipe crafted by Manuele Giuseppe Morassut, founder of the MG Pipes brand and a talented student of the Accademia della Pipa. In recent years, Morassut has distinguished himself through steady technical and stylistic growth, developing a personal approach that combines the rigor of the Italian artisanal tradition with a particular sensitivity toward organic forms and the enhancement of briar.

This piece represents a refined interpretation of the renowned Blowfish shape, one of the most highly regarded forms in contemporary artisan pipe making for its ability to highlight the natural characteristics of the wood. Medium-small in size, the pipe develops an intricate interplay of lines, volumes, and movements that naturally follow the orientation of the grain and birdseye patterns, creating a harmonious and dynamic composition from every viewing angle.

The smooth finish highlights the quality of the briar and the shaping work carried out by the artisan. The surfaces have been carefully designed to accompany and enhance the natural pattern of the wood, a central element in the design philosophy of the Blowfish shape, where aesthetics and material are inseparably linked.

The bowl, well proportioned to the overall dimensions of the pipe, offers generous capacity. The tobacco chamber is drilled with a slight taper toward the bottom, a solution appreciated for the gradual collection of combustion residue and for the even management of tobacco throughout the smoke.

The stem is crafted from black ebonite and fitted with a fishtail bit, a choice that ensures comfort in use and contributes to the overall elegance of the profile. The integration between stem and stummel follows the principles of formal balance and executional precision that characterize the maker's work.

This MG Pipes Blowfish demonstrates the remarkable maturity achieved by Manuele Giuseppe Morassut in reading briar and interpreting contemporary artistic forms. An execution that reveals confidence in design, aesthetic sensitivity, and an increasing mastery of artisanal techniques, bringing out the unique character of each individual block of briar to its fullest potential.
