Bisonte Handcrafted Pipe – "Conchiglia" Freehand in Mimmo Romeo Briar
Within the landscape of Italian pipe craftsmanship, the Bisonte brand, guided by the artist Michele Pascolini, represents the perfect synthesis of sculptural art and smoking engineering. This medium-to-large creation stands out as a freehandpiece of extraordinary visual impact. To bring it to life, the artisan selected a premium briar block from the renowned sawmill of Mimmo Romeo, enhancing its natural characteristics through fluid lines and entirely manual crafting.
The Design and Sculptural Structure
The pipe develops along a clearly organic inspiration, offering a silhouette that evokes the complex harmony of a marine structure.
The Shape and Bark Top: The asymmetrical, enveloping lines of the bowl recall the cross-section of a seashell. Running along the entire upper rim and the full length of the pipe is the natural crust of the briar block (bark top or plateau), intentionally left intact to showcase the block's genesis and create a fascinating textural contrast.
The Flame Grain and Bird's Eye: The absolute quality of the briar is revealed in its grain pattern. A dense, sharp, and regular straight grain (fiammatura) flows vertically down the flanks of the bowl, opening up at the bottom into a dense cluster of bird's eye, which embellishes the lower part of the head.
The Tobacco Chamber: Despite the medium-to-large external dimensions of the pipe, the chamber is designed with a modest capacity. The regular cylindrical drilling is precise.
Army Mounted: This technical specification allows for quick and secure breakdown.
Green Ebonite Stem: The stem is entirely hand-cut from a high-quality ebonite rod in an original green shade. This chromatic choice breaks away from traditional black standards, pairing beautifully with the warm, natural tones of the polished briar.
