In the heart of Tolmezzo, a town located in the upper province of Udine and historically considered the capital of Carnia, the creations of Michele Pascolini—known among collectors by the pseudonym "Bisonte"—are born. Situated at an altitude of approximately 320 meters, nestled between the Tagliamento River and the Bût Torrent, and surrounded by the majesty of the Carnic Alps, Tolmezzo offers a territorial setting that deeply influences the artisan's sensibility.

A sculptor before a pipemaker, Pascolini trained as a prominent student at the prestigious Accademia della Pipa. His approach and his solid artistic background allow him to infuse an extraordinary creative drive into every piece, giving life to true smoking sculptures that merge avant-garde aesthetics with flawless technical functionality.

Design, Organic Inspiration, and Briar Finish

This specific piece is a medium-sized Freehand that draws explicit inspiration from the natural world, reproducing the sinuous lines of a seashell (conchiglia) with refined sculptural sensitivity. The transition of volumes and the precision of the curves bear witness to the high executive level achieved by the Friulian artisan.

• Smooth Honey Finish: The pipe features a smooth finish and a light, honey-colored stain that highlights the natural grain of the briar and the cleanliness of the cut.

• Natural Bark Insert: In a perfect balance between art and nature, Pascolini chose to leave a portion of the natural plateau crust (bark) visible on the front wall of the bowl. This asymmetrical detail accentuates the organic appearance of the piece.

• Hand-Cut from Rod: The stem is not a pre-molded industrial component but has been entirely hand-crafted and filed directly from a raw rod.

• Material and Integration: Made of premium light Cumberland, its warm grain harmonizes perfectly with the honey tone of the briar. It features a fishtail lip for optimal comfort under the teeth and connects to the body of the pipe via a traditional tenon that fits securely into the mortise.

• Capacious Bowl: Despite the freehand and artistic lines of the head, the internal combustion chamber offers a good capacity, ideal for satisfying smoking sessions.

• Cylindrical Drilling: The drilling of the bowl is executed in a cylindrical manner.
